KORCOS18 IEC has ended
We are here: Compassion, Creativity, Change.

Let’s come together as a community of educators to reflect, grow and connect, empowering each other to create change agents for tomorrow.  What does it mean to be compassionate? What does it mean to be innovative? What does it mean to teach? To learn? To care?

We can’t wait to host you at GSIS for the Korea Council of Overseas Schools International Educators’ Conference 2018 (#KORCOSIEC18).  We are excited to make connections with the vision to create a better tomorrow.  That begins with the idea of a "We" being in the moment together, with the commitment to be our best selves for our students.

Let’s do this.

John Bertken

Athletics Director
John has been in secondary education as a teacher and coach since 1991 and athletic administration for over 15 years, most of which was in San Francisco at an all-boys Catholic high school.  He joined that faculty in the school's second year and took over a program with 4 varsity teams, growing it into a program with 14 varsity teams, with many conference and section championships to claim.  In addition to his American Sport Education Program instructor certification, he earned a Masters in Sports Science from the United States Sports Academy and a Certificate of International School Leadership from the Principals' Training Center in order to enhance his professional career.  John's love of coaching and working with coaches stems from the idea that a coach's role is to consistently produce value in the athletes' experience.  This means in every aspect of the experience, not just in the game.
