We are here: Compassion, Creativity, Change.

Let’s come together as a community of educators to reflect, grow and connect, empowering each other to create change agents for tomorrow.  What does it mean to be compassionate? What does it mean to be innovative? What does it mean to teach? To learn? To care?

We can’t wait to host you at GSIS for the Korea Council of Overseas Schools International Educators’ Conference 2018 (#KORCOSIEC18).  We are excited to make connections with the vision to create a better tomorrow.  That begins with the idea of a "We" being in the moment together, with the commitment to be our best selves for our students.

Let’s do this.

** Registration opens at the start of the 2018-19 school year.  Look to September 1, 2018 for the Registration Eventbrite.  Currently, we are in the process of curating presenters.  If you are an amazing educator and wish to share your craft with others next to these incredible human beings pre-selected, please apply HERE.**

Calling Educators to be Coaches. Yes, for Sports.

Log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Session Objectives:
1. To encourage current coaches to use sports concepts in the classroom and to enlist more qualified educators to coach sports
2. Be convinced that a great educator can be a great coach … even without being an expert athlete in the sport!

Session Description:
Usually when you see an effective coach in action, you hear things like, “You are so great with kids, you should be a teacher.”  Why don’t we turn that around and when we see a fantastic teacher, ask, “Why don’t you coach a sport or club?”

In this session we will break the myth that only great athletes can be sports coaches.  Paired with an expert in the sport, more excellent educators should attempt to be assistant coaches in sports.  A great educator embodies lifelong learning and models such behaviors; what better way than to learn a new sport you’ve never tried? Explore how seamless excellent educators can - and my argument, should - be athletic coaches. There will be takeaways for engaging learning activities and of course, friendly competition in the form of games and races! Be an athlete or not, are you a great teacher with incredible rapport with your students in the classroom? Great.  Come have fun with us and let me convince you to get out there on the field. The court.  The trail.  We need you.
