KORCOS18 IEC has ended
We are here: Compassion, Creativity, Change.

Let’s come together as a community of educators to reflect, grow and connect, empowering each other to create change agents for tomorrow.  What does it mean to be compassionate? What does it mean to be innovative? What does it mean to teach? To learn? To care?

We can’t wait to host you at GSIS for the Korea Council of Overseas Schools International Educators’ Conference 2018 (#KORCOSIEC18).  We are excited to make connections with the vision to create a better tomorrow.  That begins with the idea of a "We" being in the moment together, with the commitment to be our best selves for our students.

Let’s do this.

2.  Share models of community building activities that balance compassion and creativity

Session Description:
Would you like a story of inspiration? Would you like to discover other secrets to cultivate learning as a success habit? Come, see and hear the story of the Balanced Achievement School of Excellence, about how creativity blends with compassion in this ever-dynamic learning environment.

Fondly called BASE, this school runs completely tuition-based at the poblacion of Sibulan, Negros Oriental, Philippines. How can this be possible? Come and hear about how a small school can give rich quality education to nursery up to 6th grade learners. The first creativity challenge of the BASE was the conversion of a residential structure into a school in 2016. Into its 3rd year of operation, the challenge in the rising enrollment will be space!

Why is the BASE successful? The BASE celebrates each child's natural abilities but the challenge is also presented to the children for them to stretch their innate styles to enhance their learning. Children discover that fun learning can be unlimited. Support from the BASE parents, the municipality and the young teachers create a unique arena of learning. The BASE builds community symbiosis by blending creative learning with values. The formula IQEQ is blended with VQ, the values quotient. This is a story you won't want to miss!
