KORCOS18 IEC has ended
We are here: Compassion, Creativity, Change.

Let’s come together as a community of educators to reflect, grow and connect, empowering each other to create change agents for tomorrow.  What does it mean to be compassionate? What does it mean to be innovative? What does it mean to teach? To learn? To care?

We can’t wait to host you at GSIS for the Korea Council of Overseas Schools International Educators’ Conference 2018 (#KORCOSIEC18).  We are excited to make connections with the vision to create a better tomorrow.  That begins with the idea of a "We" being in the moment together, with the commitment to be our best selves for our students.

Let’s do this.

Session Objectives:
  1. Reflect on how pedagogical excellence is currently shared/celebrated in your school.
  2. Evaluate the potential of the RIPCORD initiative as a PD inclusion
Session Description:
We all know that teacher professional development in international schools is a necessary investment in the quest to raise student learning outcomes.  Yet, these professional development opportunities often require substantial investment of school and personal resources. Value for investment is sometimes questionable. There has to be a better way!

In this session, we will explore RIPCORD as a possible approach to the reinvigoration of professional development in your school. Designed by teachers for teachers, the initiative focuses on the use of existing school-based pedagogical excellence to drive pedagogical rejuvenation. Specific focus is placed on how observation, reflection, dialogue and celebration are used as a multi-phased collective approach.

As a participant, you will be asked to reflect on your current beliefs pertaining to pedagogical excellence, dialogue with others about how expertise is acknowledged in your school, and consider how an individualised version of the RIPCORD initiative could be of value.
