KORCOS18 IEC has ended
We are here: Compassion, Creativity, Change.

Let’s come together as a community of educators to reflect, grow and connect, empowering each other to create change agents for tomorrow.  What does it mean to be compassionate? What does it mean to be innovative? What does it mean to teach? To learn? To care?

We can’t wait to host you at GSIS for the Korea Council of Overseas Schools International Educators’ Conference 2018 (#KORCOSIEC18).  We are excited to make connections with the vision to create a better tomorrow.  That begins with the idea of a "We" being in the moment together, with the commitment to be our best selves for our students.

Let’s do this.

Session Objectives:
1) Introduce the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) Curriculum Framework and specifically focus on the Science and Engineering Practices (SEP) of Observing, Questioning and Modeling
2) Learn how to effectively grab your students attention and get them immediately talking about, thinking about and modeling science effectively

Session Description:
Not sure how to start a science unit with a bang, how to get your students hooked immediately or even what the Next Generation Science Standards are all about? Well, look no further than this informative and engaging session. Participants will become the students as they engage in activities focused around the science and engineering practices (SEP) of the NGSS. Not sure what an SEP even is? No problem! We’ll learn it as we go! During this session, “students” will learn how to better select phenomenon (sometimes known as demonstrations) that support teaching, develop a sound method to allow your students to question what they see and learn how to get your students modeling what they think is happening.
