KORCOS18 IEC has ended
We are here: Compassion, Creativity, Change.

Let’s come together as a community of educators to reflect, grow and connect, empowering each other to create change agents for tomorrow.  What does it mean to be compassionate? What does it mean to be innovative? What does it mean to teach? To learn? To care?

We can’t wait to host you at GSIS for the Korea Council of Overseas Schools International Educators’ Conference 2018 (#KORCOSIEC18).  We are excited to make connections with the vision to create a better tomorrow.  That begins with the idea of a "We" being in the moment together, with the commitment to be our best selves for our students.

Let’s do this.

Ryan Wesley Phillips

Ryan is an American culinary professor, farmer, consultant, probiotic hot sauce maker (single stalk hot sauce), and opened Ryan Smokehouse earlier this year in Korea.  Being from Texas, and missing great BBQ, he started building custom smokers here in Korea for about 5 years now.  Before coming to Korea he lived in Mexico and Brazil for a few years. He graduated top of his class from Le Cordon Bleu Hospitality Masters course, and has about 17 years cooking professionally.  He worked for Suwon Science college before moving over to Suwon Food and Tourism College about 8 years ago.  Ryan has a couple of published studies related to westerners’ perceptions of Korean restaurants in South Korea.  Korean radio and television work has been fun and often embarrassing.  He enjoy doing informative media programming more than the entertainment types. Many of his former students now work along side him in various projects.

Ryan's best days are on the farm with students, colleagues, and friends working playing and learning together. Stop by and say hello at the lunch station serving Mexican pork carnitas alongside Brandi from Brown Butter!
