KORCOS18 IEC has ended
We are here: Compassion, Creativity, Change.

Let’s come together as a community of educators to reflect, grow and connect, empowering each other to create change agents for tomorrow.  What does it mean to be compassionate? What does it mean to be innovative? What does it mean to teach? To learn? To care?

We can’t wait to host you at GSIS for the Korea Council of Overseas Schools International Educators’ Conference 2018 (#KORCOSIEC18).  We are excited to make connections with the vision to create a better tomorrow.  That begins with the idea of a "We" being in the moment together, with the commitment to be our best selves for our students.

Let’s do this.

Sketchy Thoughts: Let's doodle!...I mean practice Visual Note taking.
Limited Capacity filling up

Session Objectives:
1. Learn to quickly convey ideas by drawing
2. Learn how to make impactful Visual Notes

Session Description:
Love to draw? Want to learn? Just need some time to doodle?

If you answered yes to any of those questions, then this session is for you! We will be looking at what makes for effective graphics and practice creating impactful layouts, but mostly we will be having a good time with a pen and paper. You don’t have to be good at drawing. (Actually, it's probably better if you're not). You just need to be willing to look at learning in a different way. Join the fun.

How Design Thinking shapes a dynamic learning space
Limited Capacity filling up

Session Objective:
Demonstrate how space shapes behaviours using the Design Thinking process to transform a learning experience.

Session Description:
We will conduct an interactive workshop about the use of the design thinking process in designing learning spaces. We will use a Deck among the participants to understand the School Vision, Pedagogy, Inspiration, Personas, Principles and Program. The goal is to include design elements that reflect the understanding of what impact learning spaces can have, building a sharing session by prototyping ideas: what will the spaces look like? How will the space shape student behaviors?

The most dreaded question that math teachers get asked in the classroom is “when will we ever use this?” In this session, you will walk away with a minimum of 9 “STEAM” projects that are aligned with units of study in an Algebra II or Precalculus course that answer this question. All projects can be modified to fit the needs of the course! Let’s turn our math classes into maker-spaces and our students into makers!
